february 2018 --- "chestnut flow" awarded at the annual CPI competition

The Club Photo International (CPI) started the New Year in style on January 10th with the inauguration of its annual photo exhibition and prize-giving ceremony followed by a cocktail, writes Sarah Jordan, Deputy Editor of UN Special, in the February edition of the magazine. The competition theme this year was “movement” and a maximum of three entries were accepted from members and non-members up to the deadline of 5 December 2017.

One hundred and twenty-two entries were received from a total of 45 participants. Staff from 12 different UN entities and six missions took part.

The best photo submitted by each participant was numbered and entered anonymously into the competition, which, further to two disqualifications, resulted in 43 original photos being evaluated by the jury made up of Guy Mettan, Director of the Swiss Press Club, Catherine Fiankan-Bokonga, Vice-President of the Association of Accredited Correspondents at the United Nations (ACANU) and Sergio da Silva, founding member and outgoing President of the CPI.

The six best photos were announced at the ceremony as well as a special Jury prize-winner. All 43 competing photos were exhibited until 26 January on the third floor of the E-building and can be admired afterwards on the Club website as well as at the web page of the UN Special magazine.
